About
I’m in my mid-40s and live with my wife and 4 kids in Bothell, WA on the outskirts of Seattle. I’m a software developer by trade and love to tinker, design, and build. I worked for Microsoft for almost 13 years as a developer and dev lead (Exchange Server 4.0, Windows Server Clusters (Wolfpack), Windows Connect (cell phone sync), and Windows Client on Vista (Sync Center)). I worked for an actuarial firm (Actuarial Management Corporation) rebuilding their software system in C# over SQL with an ASP.NET front-end. The cool thing is I get to work from home!

I recently installed a home theater PC and I’m using both Windows Media Center on Vista and Beyond TV from SnapStream Media. I enjoy collecting DVDs and hi-def movies, starting with HD-DVD but now Blu-ray discs.
I’m an evangelical Christian and am very involved in my church in both music (guitar, vocals, choir) and drama (my wife and I lead Catalyst Drama, a drama team that tours to area churches and prisons). We are also involved in our church’s drama productions (see Star, Generations). I have a separate blog to discuss personal matters and matters of faith, so go there if you’re interested.
My kids are spread across 10 years, ranging in ages from 12 to 22, three of which still live at home while one moved out on her own recently.
Thanks for reading!

Hi David,
couldn’t find a way to email you directly so am leaving a comment here, and you can delete it asap..
I’ve been finding your wordpress tutorials really useful, thank you.
Just wanted to tell you tho, that your site displays kinda oddly in my firefox (version 2.0.0.16, and I’m using a pc).
There’s a screengrab here: http://www.mrsthinkythoughthead.com/images/dtm.jpg - I’m fairly sure you didn’t want it displaying like that, but it’s doing it on all pages, and making it difficult to read, so just thought I’d mention it..
Hope you don’t mind, I guess i just thought I’d like to know if it was me.
Keep up the good work!

Thanks Sam. I don’t mind at all
I noticed that as well, along with some other anomalies I need to fix. I noticed that the problem on Firefox seems to have gone away with version 3. Hopefully it works now.

Hi David,
I found your tutorials to be very helpfu8l in getting some of the functions of NexGen working on my wife’s blog.
I ran in to some memory errors though when I tried to resize the thumbnails. In fact, all I am getting are names as links to the images. I get a Fatal Error stating I am out of memory. Can you suggest what might be causing this and how to fix it?
thanks
Richard

Hi David,
Really appreciate you being accessible. I’m trying to figure out with mailpress the following: With help, I’ve set up mailpress and now wondering if it’s possible NOT have a default heading. In other words, I’m sending out newsletters and other mailings, but would like to create my own headings–which I can do–however, the default heading is always present. Is that possible. I’m probably not explaining it well…but if you would be kind enough to send me email, I could send you an email of example. kevmcn@gmail.com
Thanks and Merry CHRISTmas,
Kev
