Codelog - WordPress Theme Review
Published by David Potter on January 16, 2008
I’ve been on the prowl for a new theme for this blog and I may just have found it. The Codelog theme by Alex Günsche is simple yet elegant. With just a little bit of customization, I was able to get the results I was looking for.
Overall Grade: A
| Theme URI: | http://www.codelog.net/codelog-theme/ |
| Version: | 0.1 |
| Description: | A lightweight and stylish two-column theme. |
| Author: | Alex Günsche |
| Author URI: | http://www.zirona.com/ |
| Widget-aware: | No |
| Shows tagline: | Yes |
| Shows counts: | Yes |
| Hierarchical categories: | Yes |
Thinks I like:
- Very clean look.
- Stylish.
- Simple.
- Simple to modify to get what I wanted.
- Blockquotes are indented properly and use a vertical line to the left.
- Comments supported on pages.
Thinks I don’t like:
- Not widget-aware. It was very simple to fix this, however, so I don’t count this against it too much.
- Fixed width. This took a little bit more work to fix, and it doesn’t work completely - the footer displays underneath the last widget on the sidebar instead of at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Author is not displayed for posts. This was pretty simple to fix in a way that looks good.
- Doesn’t have a page bar. I haven’t fixed this yet, although I plan to spend some time on this.
- Unordered lists are indented too much.
Conclusions
This is a very usable theme that is easy to customize to your likes. I switched over to this theme today after spending some time adding the features I wanted. I hope to release those changes shortly.
